Fat Freezing
Coming to Skin & Sculpt Derby September 2026...
What is Fat Freezing?
Fat Freezing, also known as Cryolipolysis, is a safe, non-surgical, non-invasive body contouring treatment designed to reduce stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is an excellent alternative to surgical fat reduction procedures, helping to sculpt and contour the body without incisions, needles, anaesthetic or downtime.
The treatment is ideal for clients who are close to their target weight but struggle with localised areas of fat. Rather than helping with weight loss, Fat Freezing is designed to refine your body shape and improve definition in specific areas.

How does it work?
Fat Freezing works by using advanced cooling technology to selectively target fat cells beneath the skin.
Human fat begins to freeze at approximately -1°C, while the Cryolipolysis applicator safely cools the treatment area to temperatures between 0°C and -10°C. During treatment, a gentle vacuum draws the pocket of fat into the applicator, where controlled cooling causes the fat cells to crystallise.
Fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than the surrounding skin, muscles, nerves and other tissues. Once frozen, the fat cells undergo a natural process known as apoptosis (programmed cell death).
Over the following weeks and months, the body naturally processes and eliminates these damaged fat cells through the lymphatic and metabolic systems. Depending on the individual and treatment area, studies have shown Cryolipolysis may reduce the number of fat cells in the treated area by approximately 20–40% following treatment. Once these fat cells have been removed, they do not regenerate, although maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to preserve your results.
Areas that can be treated:
Abdomen
Love handles
Inner thighs
Outer thighs
Back fat

Upper arms
Bra buldge
Hips
Buttocks
Double chin

Who is Fat Freezing suitable for?
Fat Freezing is suitable for healthy adults who are close to their ideal body weight and would like to reduce localised areas of stubborn, pinchable fat that have not responded to a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is ideal for clients looking to refine and contour specific areas of the body rather than achieve overall weight loss.
As a body contouring treatment, Fat Freezing is designed to enhance your natural body shape by targeting these localised fat deposits. It is not intended to replace a healthy lifestyle or a weight management programme.
What to expect during treatment
Your appointment will begin with a consultation to discuss your goals and assess the treatment area.
Once the applicator is positioned, you will feel a gentle pulling sensation as the vacuum draws the fatty tissue into the handpiece, followed by an intense cooling sensation. After the first few minutes, the area usually becomes numb, making the remainder of the treatment comfortable for most clients.
Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated.
Aftercare and Results
Following treatment, it is normal to experience temporary redness, numbness, bruising, tenderness or mild swelling in the treated area. These effects are temporary and usually settle within a few days or weeks.
Results develop gradually as your body naturally removes the treated fat cells. Some clients begin to notice changes after a few weeks, with the most noticeable improvements typically seen over the following two to three months.
Some clients achieve their desired outcome after one treatment, while others may benefit from additional sessions depending on their goals and the amount of fat being treated.
Maintaining a healthy diet, regular exercise and good hydration will help support your results and keep your new body contours looking their best.
Light daily activities can usually be resumed straight away. You may be advised to avoid intense exercise for the first 24 hours if the treated area feels tender. Staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help support your long-term results.
Fat Freezing is designed to reduce localised fat and improve body contours rather than reduce overall body weight. Most clients notice changes in the shape and definition of the treated area rather than a significant change on the scales.
The treated fat cells are permanently eliminated by the body and do not regenerate. However, the remaining fat cells can still increase in size if you gain weight, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help preserve your results.
Yes. Many clients choose to treat more than one area as part of their body contouring journey. During your consultation, we'll discuss your goals and create a personalised treatment plan to suit your needs.
Absolutely! Fat Freezing is suitable for both men and women and is commonly used by men to target areas such as the abdomen, love handles, and chest.
Maintaining a healthy diet, staying well hydrated and exercising regularly can help you achieve the best possible outcome and maintain your results over time.
We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing, particularly if you're having treatment on the abdomen, thighs or hips, as the treated area may feel slightly tender afterwards.
Fat Freezing is a popular choice for clients looking for a non-surgical way to contour stubborn areas of fat. It offers a convenient treatment with little to no downtime, allowing you to continue with your everyday routine while your body naturally processes the treated fat cells over time.
